Effective Ways to Learn English Well

Missions

Our mission is to help our students to develop an ever-improving capacity to use English to communicate with others, to respond and give appropriate expression to experience, as well as to acquire, develop and apply knowledge. It is recognized that we must arouse students’ interest and build up their confidence in learning English, and equip them in all forms with appropriate levels of English skills by emphasizing the consolidation of knowledge and the use of extra-curricular activities.

Objectives

  1. Providing a language rich and progressive language learning environment and maximizing students’ exposure of learning English.
  2. Providing opportunities for students to obtain success in learning and using English in order to develop among students a positive attitude towards learning English.
  3. Focusing on assessment and assignment designs to cater for learner diversity.
  4. Enhancing teachers’ professionalism in English Language teaching and their familiarization of the Territory-Wide System Assessment (TSA) and New Senior Secondary Curriculum (NSS).
  5. Enhancing students’ awareness and their familiarization of the requirements of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education by inputting more elements about NSS electives in junior forms.
  6. Providing scaffolding materials and trainings on analyzing structure, developing ideas and using specific language items required in writing tasks to help students to improve their performance in writing.
  7. Further consolidating students’ speaking skills in conducting group discussion and individual presentations.

Canadian week

class v

lunch

On 8th March 2013, a group of Canadian Friends was sent to Ka Chi to share the blessing of “Be Confident in Who God Created You to Be” with our students.  Led by a teacher Kelly Schulz from the Vanguard College, seven Canadian students named Megan, Marnie, Jamyn, Jennifer, Shaylene, Thomas and Michael travelled overseas, desired to enjoy happy moments with our students.  Orientation activities like “Give me five” and “Kikippasu” all represent the warmest welcome from our English teachers.

The orientation programme was followed by the day trip presentations prepared by our students.  There were presentations about the places they would tour the Canadian around in Hong Kong on the two coming Saturdays.  Highlights like Ladies Street in MongKok and Avenue of Star in Tsim Sha Tsui are all nothing but extraordinary.  With their kindest accompany, the week will surely be filled with excitement and joy.
